Sydney’s inner-westsider’s The Meeting Tree have finally released their new single ‘I Pay My Tax (I Hate Myself)’. The dynamic duo comprises of Joyride, the spiritual descendant of Nate Dogg and Barry White, who’s also the touring DJ for Spit Syndicate; and Raph Lauren, the producer behind rap duo Jackie Onassis and who’s known for being shirtless for no reason whatsoever.
Following on from their Aria nominated debut single “R U A Cop’, ‘I Pay My Tax (I Hate Myself)’ sees the pair bring it down a notch with a soothing melodic message of enjoying yourself and ensuring you’re not a slave to the daily grind.
Enlisting the help of Janet English of Spiderbait fame and some fret work from Seamus Cole, Sticky Fingers, the track will feature on their second EP ‘Life Is Long: Slow Down!’.
The clip showcases the duos retreat, aptly named The Meeting Tree Retreat where you can get away, enjoy life and learn how to successfully complete a 24-hour lunch. Expect ‘90s esc visuals with plenty of awkward eye contact and handholding.
