“A kooky, stream of consciousness flow, written one summer in my garden, with all the dandelions/ wishes floating through the February air. A happy celebration of being young and free.” Susy Blue

Vintage vocals and smooth as honey harmonies; Wish in My Dish is the newest release from Melbourne outfit Susy Blue. Sing-a-long and catchy, Wish in My Dish effortlessly combines Susy’s love for calypso, 60’s pop, whimsy and quirk.

Hailing from a conservatorium studied musical background, Susy Hull captains the mighty six piece to present listeners a tale, in a self described kooky pop calypso. Hull’s influences range from classical, jazz to folk and gypsy stylings and draw noticeable inspirations from Fiona Apple, Regina Spektor and Bjork.
Recorded in Melbourne by Shane O’Mara (Paul Kelly, Audrey’s, Tim Rogers, Lisa Miller) at Yikesville Studio. Following on from the 2011 long player ‘Curly Girl’, Wish In My Dish will feature on Susy Blue’s upcoming album set for release early 2014.
Playing more through feeling than intellect, Wish in My Dish creates a world full of upbeat innocence and wonder. Married with a heavier sounding take on what could be linked to a melodic nursery rhyme and completed by some interesting sounds – percussive flute key slaps, clinking jewellery and a wacked Balinese gamelan bridge section featuring the South Indian Mridagam drum.
