French-Cuban twins and electronic hip hop/folk duo Ibeyi (meaning ‘twins’ in Yoruba) have just premiered the third single ‘Ghosts’ off their forthcoming self-titled debut album, set for release 13 February 2015 through XL Recordings/Remote Control Records.

If you haven’t yet heard of talented (and painfully beautiful) sisters Naomi and Lisa-Kainde Diaz, the daughters of late Cuban percussionist Anga Diaz, their music combines ‘modern pop, hip-hop and electronic influences with the traditional sounds of their father’s Yorùbán culture’. With Naomi playing percussion instruments (the Cajón and the Batas) and Lisa on piano, their output is a fusion of beautifully melodic, soul and urban flavours — kind of like an urban-ified Regina Spektor.

The dark and brooding videoclip for ‘Ghosts’, filmed in black and white with clips layered and blended into each other, succinctly captures the duo’s emotional pull and soulful inclinations.

Ibeyi – Ibeyi is released Friday 13th February 2015 via XL Recordings / Remote Control.
