Ahead of the release of her new cover album Nostalgia, former one-half of the Eurythmics front-woman Annie Lennox has released a simple clip for her version of the 1956 Screamin’ Jay Hawkins classic ‘I Put A Spell On You’.
It is one of the most covered songs, with performances by Creedence Clearwater Revival, Nina Simone, Marilyn Manson and Roxy Music just to name a few. The songs endurability comes in its interpretation, with many doing the song justice in simple musical productions and soulful vocals.
Lennox keeps in this bluesy vein, with her distinctively deep and powerful vocals the focus. The music video pits Lennox against a full black and white attired musical band, with her timeless voice soaring over the brass and beats.
Nostalgia is out on October 27th via La Lennoxa Limited/Island Records.
