FKA twigs has just released her first piece of material for the new year, and it of course doesn’t  disappoint. FKA twigs’ premiered her latest single ‘Good to Love’ today and dropped an accompanying video directed by the British songstress herself as well. Twigs first debuted the track during her residency at the Manchester International Festival.

The lush and aching record is another testament to FKA twigs’ artistic versatility, showcasing her delicate yet powerful vocals. As Twigs sings of a love lost,“but when you give yourself away it hurts too much”, her vulnerability translates seamlessly into her lyrics, which cascade over the ballads carefully arranged beats and instrumentation.

With the production handled by Rick Nowels and twigs’ herself, restraint is demonstrated in the production sphere. Swelling and reigning back in at the right moments the ballads instrumentation creates a harmonious symbiosis with the glittery vocals of twigs. The black and white visuals of the accompanying video add another layer of muted sensuality to the records atmosphere. As FKA twigs’ elegantly tumbles and writhes through her sheets, twigs’ controlled bodily contortions pair perfectly with the songs heightened sense of longing.
