Hailing from Canada, Vancouver natives Yukon Blonde will return with the airwaves soon with the release of their new album On Blonde on June 12.

The indie rock darlings explore a new direction with their latest release, which can be heard in the first single off the album ‘Saturday Night’, with accompanying video which is directed by Mac Boucher (Te Shi, Grimes). The decadent video aligns with the disco glam-rock feel of the aptly-titled ‘Saturday Night’, with a distinct nod to the 1980s evident.

Bringing to mind the synth sounds of Depeche Mode and David Bowie in the 80s-style song structure, the retro feel of this track is mixed with the group’s signature pop melodies and sugary-sweet harmonies. “It’s a more dynamic and more visceral album than our previous records,” explains frontman Jeff Innes. “We were more ambitious writing On Blonde so it’s sort of ironic that in experimenting we created a more accessible record than ever before.”

On Blonde will be released June 12 via Dine Alone Records and is available for pre-order now.
