Electronic duo Wise Child have released their second single ‘Figurehead’, another stellar track which highlights the duality of the pair. Their ability to amalgamate elements of electronica with reverberating bass and haunting vocals shines through in their sophomore single.
It’s a family affair for Jem and Tom King, the siblings from Melbourne continue to build their fan base following the release of their previous single ‘Tomoko’. Their distinct and mesmerizing sound is perfectly captured in ‘Figurehead’, which plays with vocal samples interwoven into enthralling electronic beats.
The subject content of the song floats between musings of what has and what will be. Tom, one half of Wise Child explained “Figurehead is about thinking of big ideas. Dreaming about your pasts and futures at the same time. Retrospective and introspective. When ever I am down, I can listen to this turned up to 11 and it gets me out of bed every time”
The duo’s musical flair has been honed in with the help of James Cecil (Architecture of Helsinki) and Simon Lam (Klo/I’lls). It leaves listeners with a cathartic journey through the landscape that Wise Child have carefully created with their soft building electronic drops which the tracks vocals perfectly cascade into. Wise Child cements themselves as yet another Melbourne act to watch out for in the coming years.
