Vampire Weekend bassist Baio is heading to Australia to premiere his debut LP The Names.

Baio (aka Chris Baio) is a multi-talented man. He’s enthralled fans across the world as part of Vampire Weekend, as well as remixed heavy weights like Cults and Broken Bells. And we all thought Ezra Koenig was the worthy front man.

But for debut album The Names, Baio is on his own. He self-produced nine tracks for the record, concerned with identity and finding a place to belong in the world.

Singles ‘Brainwash yrr Face’ and ‘Sister of Pearl’ have offered a taste of what’s to come – and it’s delicious. Baio conjures a distinctive sound mixing club beats with eclectic vocal licks. With a Vampire Weekend-esque bassline, ‘Sister of Pearl’ especially is dangerously catchy.

But before he plays a string of European shows in September, Baio is treating Australian fans to a sneak peak of The Names. You can catch him in Melbourne and Sydney in July.
