Wondercore Island is bringing back The Cave for this year’s Melbourne International Jazz Festival. This year, The Cave will be exploring improvisation across two stages with multiple bands from across the country. Poetry and essays will be a focus in the Writer’s In Residence booth, DJing and spoken word in the Radio Station Booth, and finally, design and printmaking with the Printing Booth. Local producer SilentJay will be headlining the Friday night set with support from Swooping Duck (the rhythm section of Hiatus Kaiyote). Brisbane-via-Japan outfit Superfeather will headline the Saturday night slot with support from Vulture St Tape Gang. Uncomfortable Science will play on both nights, with Lachlan Mitchell (Laneous) and Angus Leslie (Sex on Toast) conducting and composing on the spot and getting the band to follow.
The Cave is open on the 3rd and 4th of June. Find out more via the Wondercore Island social media pages.
