Smashing their way into the year with a powerful new video for the single ‘Sinister Sound’ Geelong favourites The Kite Machine are a band to watch in 2018. The video comes as the latest outing for the close-knit three-piece who have been on the rise since forming in 2011.
The new video starts out soft and rhythmic as a steady kick beat and plucky riffs sound out. The camera pans around the band as frontman Levi Anderson’s distorted vocals take the lead. The vibe builds gradually then boom, camera zooms out, day turns to night and the track takes a heavier turn. Smoke trails around the band and lights flash as manic riffs and soaring vocals showcase the band’s signature rock sounds.
“Everybody’s getting down to my sinister sound” sings Anderson, and never has a truer word been spoken, this track is sure to knock fans off their feet. The new single seems like an extension of the band’s sound with the previous video for ‘Charlotte’ having a much funkier vibe. Compare that to ‘Sinister Sounds’ which is high energy and in your face. The video also reflects the band’s love of playing live music. The three-piece is known for their intense live shows, often writing music with their live performances in mind.
With a 2016 national tour already under their belt and supporting bands like Kingswood, Pierce Brothers and Stonefield, The band is set to take over stages across Australia as they take the new single on the road. If the new single is an indication of what’s to come, The Kite Machine will be the next big thing in the Australian rock scene.
