The Australasian World Music Expo (AWME) is regarded as Australia’s premier music industry conference and showcase event for roots music. Celebrating its 7th edition in 2014, the conference has opened applications for artists interested in playing at the event.

AWME prides itself on opening “new networks and creates opportunities for musicians world wide by engaging industry representatives from the world over for four days of music, workshops, seminars and showcase concerts”.

Artists that have showcased at AWME since 2008 have secured substantial results including: export, touring and festival opportunities such as Glastonbury (UK), Fuji Rock (Japan), Winnipeg Folk Festival (Canada), Calgary Folk Music Festival (Canada), Sierra Nevada World Music Festival (USA), various WOMADs, GlobalFEST (USA), Sakifo Festival (Reunion Islands), Sziget Festival (Hungary), Ulsan World Music Festival (South Korea), Colours of Ostrava Festival (Czech Republic), Big Chill (UK), Sfinks Mixed (Belgium), numerous Australian festivals including Bluesfest, WOMADelaide, Woodford Folk Festival, Port Fairy Folk Music Festival, Boomerang, Adelaide Festival of the Arts and many more; as well as countless deals with booking agents and record labels locally and abroad, increased media presence and much more.

Along with providing such opportunities, AWME has in the past hosted a plethora of high profile artists including Archie Roach, Saskwatch and Jeff Lang.

It is predicted that over 500 high-profile local and international music representatives from some of the world’s leading festivals, record labels, booking agencies and arts organisations are expected to be making their way to Melbourne in November for AWME’s 7th edition.
