The Corner Hotel has existed for the last 20 years as a pillar in the Australian Music scene, championing each succession of Aussie acts that have graced their stage. Now to say thanks for the unwavering support they have received, they have established The Corner Award.
As Anna Northeast of the Corner Hotel noted “We love music and the people that make it. We know it’s hard starting out, keeping your day job, lugging gear, driving to shows, getting gigs and still finding time to write. So we want to say a big heartfelt THANKS… WE LOVE YOUR WORK. We really love your work.”
The lucky receiver of the Corner Award will enjoy a headline show at the Corner Hotel with production costs taken care of by the venue and all ticket money going straight to the winner. In addition a pressing of 150 copies of 7” vinyl singles and a cheque for $2000 courtesy of the Corner Hotel. Rehearsal time at Bakehouse studios and an exclusive mentorship with an Australian independent label AND an artist in residence gig for a month at Bakehouse studios as a special mention award for another artist.
