Melbourne’s own sister act Stonefield have released a new single in the lead up to the hotly anticipated follow up album to their 2013 self-titled debut. Titled ‘Stranger‘, the new psychedelic track showcases lead singer Amy Findlay’s astonishing melodic commandments, while siblings Hannah, Sarah and Holly all manage to perfectly compliment one another on their respective instruments.
As one of the last tracks written for the upcoming album, ‘Stranger’ appears an organic shift away from the comfort of the band’s psychedelic rock/dream pop sound, and manages to incorporate an almost disco-inspired genre, with Hannah’s pulsing, grooving guitar riffs while sister Sarah’s everpresent organ-effect synth resonates in the background.
With the last three years spent on the road, the feminine four-piece spent 2015 opening for Fleetwood Mac, before having played on some of the world’s biggest stages, including Glastonbury, The Great Escape and a recently at SXSW, and with their upcoming album expected to hit within the year, they don’t look like slowing down any time soon.
