With five years of successful running under their belts, the Melbourne music community will once again join forces to deliver an electric fundraiser across the Australia Day long weekend. Unveiling the 2015 line-up, you really do not want to misso ut on the all day event. Over the years, the fundraisers have collected over $25,000 and hosted almost 100 Australian acts of varying genres, with both bands and behind-the-scene organisers promoting the cause. With all profits going directly to The Asylum Seeker Resource Centre, The Refugee Council and Oxfam, the event will focus on raging against the negative attitudes and behaviours so often exhibited on our national day – fighting ignorance, acknowledging our country’s true beginnings and celebrating true cultural diversity.

The 2015 edition of the event will span across two days, two venues and two massive line-ups. Footscray’s Reverence Hotel will host Sydney punk legends Frenzel Rhomb, Melbourne soul devotees Saskwatch, dark punk rockers Hoodlum Shouts, the return of  tropical punks Hawaii Islands, plus Rob Muinos, Have/Hold, Outright and lots more.

Rising from a busy 2014 schedule, The Smith Street Band will be undertaking the headline duties on day two at The Corner Hotel. Joined by their good ol’ party brothers The Bennies, the witty local MC Joelistics, entertaining hip-hoppers Curse Ov Dialect, local folk-punk oldies Fear Like Us and more.

With variety and a resourceful mindset, the donation of time, gear and a lick of elbow grease, Australia Day 2015 goes beyond a chaotic weekend of live music – it is an event that can change hearts and minds and help those in need.
