When hardworking creative teams come together, good things are bound to happen. For Melbourne’s own Shadow Electric Outdoor Cinema & Bar and the proud team who stand behind the iconic venue, the reinvigoration of former Theatre House In Brunswick comes as a great pleasure to Melbourne music scene.

In collaboration with musical and video artists this August, ‘Visions will host the collaboration of two art forms in perfect harmony. Featuring the venue’s 34-metre square cinema screen transported for your viewing pleasure and relocated to Brunswick, the erected screen will share it’s own history in the Estonian House (Formally the Marco Polo, and Western Cinemas).

If you aren’t familiar with what Shadow Electric curate, over the past 4 years alone the venue and team have produced and programmed over 300 cinema screenings along with 200 bandroom shows. Among these shows the venue have had the pleasure of being able to combine the cinema with musical performance with an incredibly atmospheric result; full of energy and atmosphere with artists like Kurt Vile and Mac De Marco, as well as local artists Rat and Co, Sleep D and Courtney Barnett working with the space.

From the Friday the 28th through to Sunday the 30th August, Shadow Electric’s producers Jay Rayner and David Chestwig will bring Estonian House to life by reimagining the old theatre with commissioned works from Teeth and Tongue, The Bombay Royale and Rat and Co. To top this off, adding to the musical/visual spectacular will be a very special and rare live performance from Juice Rap Newswith Nazeem Hussain and Dan Ilic warming up.

The project is providing an exciting challenge for our small but experienced team. Reinvigorating and in some ways reimagining the use of this special old theatre is a very exciting prospect for all involved.” – Jay Rayner, Co-Founder and Creative Director at Shadow Electric.

‘Visions’ will enable a unique opportunity and ethos for collaboration between musicians and visual artists, allowing them to develop a unique presentation and interpret their music visually on a grand scale. On a mission to reinvigorate the former cinema house, Shadow Electric will produce every aspect of the series, from the bar to the audio, HD digital projection and cinema screen.

‘Visions’ is guaranteed to take you on a one-of-kind cinematic and aural journey this August.
