Byron Bay outfit Tora are today celebrating the release of their long-awaited LP, Take A Rest. If you think the name sounds familiar, you’re probably right – the quartet has chalked up 20 million + plays online and played to audiences all over the world, including slots at SITG and Glastonbury, to name a few.

Having already been gifted cuts ‘Another Case’ and ‘Amsterdam’ in previous weeks, fans have patiently awaited their first taste of an end-to-end listening experience from the industrious bunch.

Conceived over a two-year time frame, Take A Rest champions itself as a balanced yet unconventional album. While the LP is a polished as dad’s mustang, it still holds within it an organic characteristic, forged by a number of natural soundscapes birthed out of guitarist Jai Piccone’s garden. Combine this with the outfits marquee flowing basslines and gentle chordal work, and the output is sonically impressive throughout.

The real charm of Take A Rest can be traced back to its ability to command a listen without being overbearing. Whilst many of the offerings on the release will provide familiar tones, the ability to subtly drop/add fresh components to each track give the LP a fresh listen, whilst still providing fans with a sense of comfortableness.
