PILGRIMS has just dropped their brooding debut single ‘Pieces’ from their forthcoming EP of the same name.
Sydney-based songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Jonathan Bowden, and London-based singer-songwriter Toma Benjamin, have come together to form a project that evokes the true definition of “pilgrims” – wanderers in a foreign place. The two artists grew up together, only to be drawn to different continents over time. The project was born after Bowden left his former group Battleships, only to reconnect with his childhood friend.
Their debut single features production from Lanterns, electronic duo Flight Facilities, and The Preatures‘ Luke Davison on drums. The track is dark and consuming, with synths swelling to a dramatic crescendo. If you are a fan of indie-rock with electronic tendencies, such as alt-J, SOHN, or Glass Animals – keep an eye on PILGRIMS. Pieces is due to be released on September 4th.
