Australia, wrap your ears around this one. Fresh from being announced on this years stacked Splendour In The Grass lineup, What So Not has dropped perhaps one of the tours of the year, with the announcement he’s embarking on a run of shows across Australia’s major cities this year. He isn’t going at it alone though, with news Emoh (What So Not) is bringing along Sweat It Out label mate and Fools Gold boss, A-Trak. Another special guest joining the tour is recent Fool’s Gold signee, Rome Fortune.
What So Not’s recent rise has seen him work with an array of talent. Through his recent collaboration with dutch producer GANZ titled ‘Lone,’ which also features fellow Australian and one of the countries most exciting young artists JOY.. To his absolute fine efforts on reworking RUFUS’ massive 9 minute epic Innerbloom (which has been played 1.89 million times) — it’s no secret What So Not has fast become one the countries biggest dance music exports.
But, perhaps the biggest drawcard of this tour needs no introduction, with one of dance music’s most respected figures A-Trak. I mean, with a resume as grand as his, does this legend of dance music need an introduction. The five time DMC World Champ, does it all. From label head (Fool’s Gold) to receiving a Grammy Nomination on one of dance music’s much loved projects Duck Sauce, this tour is going to be huge!
With the announcement that A-Trak is heading down under, we thought it would be good to rekindle your awe at this legend’s brilliance. (In no particular order) Here are 5 awe inducing moments of his illustrious career-
1. A-Trak – Fool’s Gold Rap Party Captain @ Holy Ship 2014 – Day 3
From the scratching at the start (yes those 5 time DMC skills have come in handy) to the antics of the plethora of artists in the back — can someone please invent a time machine so we can travel back in time an experience this party!
2. A-Trak (Canada) – DMC World Champion 1997 — Winning Set
Bedroom producers and disc jockeys, take notes. It doesn’t get much better than this, with this being one his five winning DMC sets.
3. Yeah Yeah Yeah’s – Heads Will Roll (A-Trak Remix)
Without a word of doubt, this is one of the biggest remixes of all time. In some respects, shedding more light onto A-Trak, his remix of Heads Will Roll still burns the dance floor.
4. Duck Sauce – Big Bad Lazer Wolffff @ Hard Summer Fest – 08/03/2013
Being one half of Duck Sauce, this list wouldn’t be complete without having a clip of his efforts in the Grammy Nominated, disco-esque project.
5. A-Trak w/ A$AP NAST – Lit AF @ Fool’s Gold Day Off 2015 – 08/29/2015
Fool’s Gold are renowned for having some of music craziest parties, and boy is this one FOMO inducing. Between the scratching and A$AP NAST joining him on stage, June and July cannot come quicker.
