Now in its second year Next Stop Melbourne, is an all-day celebration of contemporary African cultures to the one space in Melbourne. This event will be held on Sunday 1st of February 2015 and will feature an eclectic line-up of talent from both established and emerging artists from the African-Australian diaspora including, music, theatre, visual art, spoken word and poetry.

Presented in association with the SummerSalt Outdoor Arts Festival, Next Stop Melbourne and is a free event running from 2pm-8pm at the SummerSalt Festival Hub, Dodds Street, South Bank.

Joining the lineup this year is rising star in Melbourne’s reggae and dancehall scene, SK Simeon, with his singjay vocal delivery, mixture of comedic tone with conscious lyrics and upbeat live show, Estère with her layers of production with pulsating rhythms and evocative melodies that adhere to the genre of Electric Blue Witch hop and True Vibenation with their blends of Afro-beat, dubstep, soul and electronic music.

Somali musician Abdi Mohamed Abdi, Somali Peace Band will bring the funk as well as their sophisticated music and poetry, as well as Olugbade Okunade, a master of the trumpet and the saxophone will perform a special one-off collaboration with poet Magan Magan and rounding out the day is local Hip-hop newcomer N Y U O N  and creative collective Still Nomads with host a popup stage of spoken word, poetry and music.
