Ambient and visually stimulating Melbourne trio Rat & Co have returned to the touring circuit with a handful of headline shows and festival appearances set to take off in the coming days.
Rapidly approaching is their special appearance at the inaugural CLIPPED Music Video Festival, which is set highlight the September 30 Canberra event. Alongside this notable appearance, Rat & Co have a string of dates throughout September and October, including their highly anticipated Rolling Stone Live Lodge appearance on October 9.
Rat & Co‘s Josh Delaney ran us through his five favourite music videos – and we can totally see where he’s coming from with his selections!
Bjork – All is Full of Love
“It was super hard to choose a singular Chris Cunningham Clip, as I could have filled out this top 5 list with only his clips. He is a true visionary when it comes to interpretation of music works. He takes songs into places that would never have been fathomable by the artist and gives the song a whole new life of its own.”
Radiohead – Pyramid Song
“‘Pyramid Song’ is up there with my favourite songs of all time but up until recently I hadn’t seen this clip, watching the clip for the first time made me feel like I was hearing the song for the first time. It takes you on such a beautiful animated journey through a post-apocalyptic word similar to that of Kevin Costner’s water world.”
Fatboy Slim – Praise You
“I remember being a kid watching Rage on ABC one weekend, and ‘Praise You‘ came on and my ears pricked up. I had never heard anything like Fat Boy Slim before and I immediately went out and bought the album from my local record store. Little did I know that the video clip was made by one of my now favourite directors, Spike Jonze.”
The Cure – Close To Me
“This is my mum’s favourite video clip and song, whenever it would come on she would turn up the speakers as loud as they could go and dance around.”
Sigur Ros– vidrar vel til loftarasa
“Sigur Ros are the reason I play music. All I wanted to do in high school was sing into a shit-ton of reverb and strum ambient power chords. This is my favourite clip of theirs.”
