Think the 80s, synth wave, rock, and mixed in with a bit of indie flavor and you’ll get ‘Love’, the newest song by indie band The Avenue. Released ahead of their sophomore EP NAMES, this fusion of synth-pop, underlined with heavy rock elements and the soulful voice of lead singer Sam Thomas, it is a song that demands to be replayed again and again.

Or as Thomas so eloquently describes it, “Love is by far our heaviest and most punk/grunge song. It’s about the feeling of your body screaming out for a person but your mind detesting the thought of them.”

The band’s resume is surely impressive. Receiving praises from Claire Mooney and Liam Stapleton of Triple J, and supporting a range of national and international acts including the likes of British India, Paper Lions (CA), All We Are (UK), The Getaway Plan, Columbus, and CREO, we certainly have a lot to look forward to on their upcoming tour.
