Elestial Sound present the A Thousand Tones launch, a Melbourne event taking place on the 26th of February, launching the 40 track A Thousand Tones mix-tape, which features work exclusively produced by cis women, trans women, trans feminine and non-binary artists and composers from around the world.
Eastmint, who are hosting this event promoting a phenomenally inclusive cause are a Melbourne based, artist run studio and record label. Their mission, in their own words, is to provide “platform for creativity and a support network providing artists with opportunities for growth and exposure.”
The mix features artists who span the entire globe, with contributors from Australia, Denmark, Japan, Germany, The United States, The United Kingdom and many more, with the aim of both absorbing listeners and tackling issues surrounding hegemonic music culture. A Thousand Tones is about perspective, composition and intersectionality within underground and DIY music culture.
The launch event will feature performances from Akaysha Rose, Aviva Endean, Cold Hands Warm Heart, Emah Fox, Quadrifid, Rogue Wavs and The Person, in addition to an art installation by Courtney Blackness.
200 special limited edition double-cassette tapes and a booklet/zine compiled by featured artists will be available for sale at the event, with a digital release of A Thousand Tones also happening.
