CHVRCHES have announced that their debut album, ‘The Bones Of What You Believe’ is to be released in Australia on 20th September via Liberator Music / Goodbye Records. The album will feature the current single ‘Gun’, the video for which has just been released online and can be viewed here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ktoaj1IpTbw
In the lead up to the album, ‘Gun EP’ will be released on 15th July, available as a digital bundle, including a full suite of remixes across the formats by Groundislava, DJ Helix, Auntie Flo, Jamie Isaac and KDA. The EP comes hot on the heels of the ‘Recover EP’. The band is due to perform at sold out shows in Sydney and Melbourne in August.
“Very much the sound of now” – The Guardian
“CHVRCHES stand out in a crowded field” – Pitchfork
“Robyn-like synth bliss” – Sunday Times Culture
“CHVRCHES are effortless and close to svblime” – NME
In less than twelve months CHVRCHES – Iain Cook, Martin Doherty and Lauren Mayberry – have come out of nowhere to be everywhere. Combining indie sensibilities and aesthetics with barbed pop hooks and an unhealthy obsession with Prince, CHVRCHES take elements of classic electronica, hip hop and post-punk, and yet sound like none of the above. Since posting their first song, ‘Lies’, online in May 2012, the band have merited a place in the top five of the BBC Sound of 2013; sold out headline tours in Australia, the UK and US (they are currently midway through a north American run that will see them play to almost 20,000 people); made a triumphant, award-winning appearance at SXSW; and filled tents to the point of bursting at their debut festival performances at Field Day (UK) and Sasquatch (US). In the coming months they will play to more festival full houses and embark on a string of European arena dates with Depeche Mode, as well as embarking on their debut (and already sold-out) Australian tour.
