Byron Bay‘s biggest annual music festival Splendour In The Grass sold out again this year within its first hour of sale. But do not fret! The Festival has just announced a huge list of favourites to play sideshows in July and August, with more to be announced in the upcoming weeks.
With a lineup this good, it’s an absolute debacle deciding who to check out and where, so we’ve hand picked 10 of our must-sees for this year’s Splendour Sideshow Season.
Catch festival headliners Blur on their first trip to Australia in 18 years! The English four-piece will take their distinctive Brit-rock to Sydney, Melbourne and Perth, with supports from next-gen troublemaking lad Jamie T.
2. OF MONSTERS AND MEN
Icelandic folk Of Monsters And Men will play two east coast shows touring their new record Beneath The Skin. Check out their big-sound ballad live sets in Sydney and Melbourne.
3. AZEALIA BANKS
Notorious controversy-causing rapper Azealia Banks is set to punch out her hard-hitting blows across two dates on Splendour weekend. Check out her first class badass-ery in Melbourne and Sydney.
4. THE WOMBATS
Liverpool legends and pop-rock geniuses The Wombats are playing a pre-Splendour warm-up show in Perth, with Festival follow-up gigs in Melbourne, Adelaide and Sydney. Head along to the latter shows to see supports from garage rockers Circa Waves.
5. PURITY RING
Transcend psychedelic realms on a trip to the centre of your being with Purity Ring. The duo, Megan James and Corin Roddick, will hit up Melbourne and Sydney venues.
6. EVERYTHING EVERYTHING
Repetition lovers Everything Everything are taking their experimental pop-rock to Sydney and Melbourne. Get your fix of double-trouble when they hit up these cities with Swedish electro-pop crew Urban Cone.
7. BEST COAST
Californian advocates Best Coast will once again let us know how amazing their state is when they finish up Splendour weekend, rocking out two shows at Melbourne and Sydney.
8. MS MR
Returning to Splendour after their 2013 Festival debut, New Yorkers Lizzy Plapinger and Max Hershenow, aka Ms Mr, will play sideshows showcasing their latest album in Sydney and Melbourne.
9. PORTER ROBINSON
Porter Robinson will be bringing the bangers direct to Melbourne and Sydney with local electronic connoisseurs Wave Racer and Cosmo’s Midnight.
10. WOLF ALICE
With debut album, My Love Is Cool coming out just before Splendour kicks off, Londoners Wolf Alice will bring their grungy live set to Melbourne and Sydney.
