Everyone get excited, because there’s a new one-of-a-kind venue opening March 6th, 2015 in Brisbane, and it’s probably going to rule.
Designed by musicians for musicians, The Foundry is a two-level music venue on Wickham Street in the heart of Fortitude Valley, only about a five minute walk from fellow venue The Zoo. This venue aims to support Brisbane’s music scene by acting as a hub for artists, punters and creative industries professionals.
The massive venue will feature a live room with high quality backline and a capacity of 300 people, a rock’n’roll bar, a beer garden, collaborative spaces, 20 creative studios, multiple rehearsal studios and a room dedicated for bands who need to crash the night free of charge. On top of that, it won’t charge bands for venue hire.
How can they afford to keep this running, you may ask? Well, one entire floor will be home to the offices of Brisbane’s best publicists, booking agents, street press and blogs. These companies will pay the rent, which is a decent price to pay for the unique opportunity of being at the centre of what will be a huge music hub. With these companies paying rent, it gives The Foundry the ability to be less about profits, and more about supporting Brisbane’s creative community.
Mucho Bravado, 4ZZZ, Control Zine, Jungle Love Festival, Smack Face Music, Mitzi and Lost Movements are amongst those who are confirmed tenants for The Foundry Studios. If you’re a company looking to be a tennant and join the bandwagon of game-changers, you can apply on their website.
