Shining beacon of free live entertainment, The Saint Kilda Festival is upon us once more. Kicking off on Saturday 31 January for nine days of music, arts and culture, this year will mark the festival’s 35th anniversary — and organisers have just announced the full lineup for Festival Sunday, its closing day.

Hitting The Main Stage in the evening will be Blue Mountains hip-hop group Thundamentals, along with fellow feature acts: Gotye’s The Basics, San Cisco, and Aussie ’80s legends The Church.

The Main Stage will also see performances by previous New Music Stage winners Private Life and Shaun Kirk; indigenous Australian singer-songwriter Emma Donovan and The Putbacks; 70’s singer-songwriter Russell Morris; with Hot Dub Time Machine closing the night.

While over at the O’Donnell Gardens Stage will be 2013 Triple J Unearthed artist of the year, Remi, DMA’s, Japanese WallpaperBanoffee, The Delta RiggsJimblah and Chelsea Wilson.

In more exciting news: another year, another winner of The New Music Stage. This year the stage audiences will be introduced to unsigned bands I Know The Chief, Murdena, Mau Power, Forest Falls, AudegoSimone and Girlfunkle, Better Than The Wizards, Echo Drama, Jude Perl and The D.Y.E. Viewers will have the chance to vote for the best act; the winner of which receives a not-too-shabby $5,000 and the chance to play The Main Stage in 2016. So go ahead, make their day.

The St Kilda Festival is on from Saturday 31 January to Sunday 8 February 2015. For further information visit www.stkildafestival.com.au. The St Kilda Festival is produced and presented by the City of Port Phillip.
