This year’s Splendour In The Grass was always going to sell out within a day – but few saw coming that it would take only 45 minutes for every ticket (even single day ones) to go.
The first to sell out were the camping tickets, with all 17, 000 gone by 9:05 am. Countrywide crashes of Moshtix’s website prevented several would-be patrons from buying tickets to the three day event, which will be headlined by the briefly reformed RnB mega-duo Outkast.
Triple j will do live broadcasts of the major acts at the festival – which runs from July 24th until July 27th. This will likely come in handy as many of the international acts will not be playing Australian shows outside of the festival.
To soften the blow for the thousands who didn’t click refresh quickly enough, Splendour has said that several sideshow tours will be announced in the coming weeks – including possible tours from Lily Allen, Foster The People, Kelis, City and Colour, and the mysteriously back-on-the-scene Angus & Julia Stone, amongst a number of the other acts performing at the festival.
… So watch this space.
