Think the RockWiz of food as Cam Smith, of 3RRR’s Eat It! along with Australia’s best bartender Sebastian Reaburn, host and challenge Melbourne’s loudest chefs on their knowledge and palates.
Melbourne food experts and Melbourne’s loudest and most rock ‘n’ roll chefs will battle it out to win the perpetual Bill Marchetti Flying Chef Trophy on Tuesday March 11 at Melbourne’s well known and newly renovated rock venue Ding Dong Lounge.
Cameron Smith has always had an appreciation for food and he has crafted a career throughout the hospitality industry for over 30 years. He has the longest running food program in Australia on Melbourne’s RRR every Sunday from midday – 1pm. On top of this he owned restaurants throughout the 80s and spent the late 90s writing food reviews for the late Mietta O’Donnell. Over the past five years Cam has worked as the Food Co-ordinator for Channel Seven’s Iron Chef, and more recently has been a part of the production of Masterchef and has been a food presenter at the Melbourne Food and Wine Festival.
Partner in crime Sebastian Reaburn is a rather special mixologist at large in Melbourne town. He was the previous owner of 1806 in Exhibition St, Australian bartender of the year, head barman at the Louis Bar @ Vue de Monde and amongst many other things he also contributes to Cam’s RRR show Eat It.
Now to the all-important Panelists, of course Cam and Seb have only invited the finest the Melbourne has to offer so you can be assured the knives and pens will fly when the panel of experts will be asked to show their knowledge of food through QUIZ with questions like:
What does SPAM stand for?
What is the most awful smelling fruit in the world?
In one corner the chefs: Philipa Sibley of Prix Fixe, Melbourne’s first ticketed dining venue, Daniel Wilson of Huxtable. Huxtaburger anyone? and Tony Twitchett the executive chef at Taxi. Enough said.
The other corner the media: Michael Harden the acclaimed author, restaurant reviewer man about town and contributor to Gourmet Traveller, Larrissa Dubeki who walks softly yet carries an enormous stick with her food reviews in The Age and Jess Ho an acclaimed blogger, inseparable with the early days of Chin Chin she may look cute but don’t mess with Jess, she bites!
So join Cam, Seb the media and the chef on a culinary journey through quiz as part of the Melbourne Food and Wine Festival.
