In the lead up to the release of their debut album G’day, Donald Dank & The Naughty Boys have just dropped a new single ‘I’m a Monkey.’ Known for their great humour and amazing get-ups, the track is laugh out loud funny, yet at the same time relaxing and jovial. The four-piece is made up of Andrè Pinochi, Angus Landy, Lachy Meagher and Mick Procter who write, produce and record all their music in their home studio.
The accompanying video clip for ‘I’m A Monkey’ is hilarious, with footage from the band’s short documentary by Milena Zheliba, and in the carefree manner that Donald Dank & The Naughty Boys always carry, the track hits us with a nostalgic sound, but brings something different to the musical palette.
‘I’m a monkey- why do I want coffee? Why do I want money? It’s all a bit fuckin’ dumb if you ask me!’
‘And I was thinkin’ that we took it too far. And I was thinkin’ we forgot who we are. Oohhhh we’re all monkeys!’
‘I’m a Monkey’ is executed with warm-hearted weirdness, and you can tell the band enjoy what they do; to look at the world through a veil of comedy and absurdity. A word of warning- be cautious of dragging your steering wheel, and veering your car from side to side violently as this sweet song hums through the speakers, and you lose yourself in it.
Don’t miss Donald Dank & The Naughty Boys launch G’day at the Evelyn Hotel in Fitzroy March 23rd.
