Following his awesome single “The Wolf is at the Door,” Brisbane based virtuoso Daryl James has backed up his promising debut with “Moth to the Flame,” in the lead up to his sophomore album Insofar.

Daryl James describesMoth to the Flame” as “being hooked on doing things that we know are bad for us in the long run, but continuing to do them anyway, returning again and again, like a moth to a flame. What is the real cost of buying into all the distractions of modern life?” This poignant theme is explored through a fresh mixture of blues, shredding rock and acoustic brilliance. His vocals, gritty and coarse, add to the themes of struggle in humanity, and the step up from verse to chorus, with a piercing guitar, enraptures the listener.

The music video is personal and sharp, showcasing his rare, beautifully gruff vocal abilities. Mixing a live performance with shots of beautiful scenery, it’s a passionate clip that explores everything from introverted contemplation to wild untamed dance. As a beautiful blend of intricate finger picking and body percussion, Daryl James and “Moth to the Flame” truly delivers.
