I Am Big Bird:

This heartwarming documentary chronicles the life of Caroll Spinney, the man who has been Sesame Street‘s Big Bird and Oscar the Grouch since 1969. For over four decades, Caroll’s characters have been cherished by generations of children. At 81 years old, the tenacious and enthusiastic performer has no intention of slowing down. I Am Big Bird features incredible footage of Spinney’s earliest collaborations with Jim Henson as it traces Caroll’s journey from bullied child to celebrated performer. This loving portrait peels away the instances that inspired his creation of Big Bird and as the yellow feathers give way to grey hair, it is the man, not the muppet, who will steal your heart.

I Am Big Bird is having advanced screenings this weekend at cinema Nova

Mr Holmes:

In 1947, Sherlock Holmes (Sir Ian McKellen), long-retired, lives in a sleepy Sussex village with his housekeeper and her amateur-sleuthing son. But far from living out a peaceful retirement, he is haunted by an unsolved case from fifty years ago. He remembers only fragments: a confrontation with an angry husband, a secret bond with his beautiful but unstable wife. With his legendary mental powers on the wane, and without his old sidekick Watson, Holmes is faced with the toughest case of his life – a case that might finally reveal to him the mysteries of the human heart. Directed by Bill Condon and co-starring Laura Linney, Roger Allam, Hiroyuki Sanada and Frances de la Tour.

13 Minutes:

Georg Elser was a man who could have changed world history and saved millions of human lives. If only he had had thirteen more minutes. With thirteen more minutes, the bomb he had personally assembled would have torn apart Adolf Hitler and his henchmen. But this was not to be, and on the 8th of November 1939, Hitler left the scene of the attempted assassination earlier than expected – leaving Elser to fail catastrophically. Who was this man who recognised the danger emanating from Hitler sooner than many others? Directed by Oliver Hirschbiegel, 13 Minutes paints a suspenseful, emotional portrait of a resistance fighter responsibleand a moment that changed the world.
