Life is good for ad man Ruben Guthrie (Patrick Brammal) – he leads a party boy lifestyle, has a model fiancée (Abbey Lee) and lives in a house on the water. Following a dangerous, drunken fall, his mum (Robyn Nevin) steps in and his fiancée give him an ultimatum: If Ruben can do one year without a drink, she’ll give him another chance. Ruben Guthrie is the story of one man not only battling the bottle, and the city that won’t let him put it down.

Women He’s Undressed:

A fascinating documentary about the life of the Australian costume designer and three-time Oscar winner Orry-Kelly. As well as featuring his  design work for films including Some Like it Hot, Casablanca and Oklahoma, the film shares insightful stories from the likes of Jane Fonda and Angela Lansbury. How did a boy from a small NSW coastal fishing village find himself in Hollywood, where his unbounded wit and talent would lead him to design gowns that lit up the golden age of cinema? It’s a question answered well in director Gillian Armstrong’s film, exploring his life and career through interviews and recreations with The Moody‘s actor Darren Gilshenan in the title role.
