Neon drenched, electro-pop duo Nakatomi have dropped their new single, ‘The Knife‘ ahead of a national tour.

Synth-heavy with industrial beats, “The Knife is about the downward spiral of bad experiences or relationships, but choosing to see some beauty in the fall rather than getting consumed by it,” explains lead vocalist, Emily Smart.

Soaked in a swelling 80s vibe, the track was produced and mixed by Melbourne producer Jimi Maroudas (Kimbra, Bertie Blackman), with sound design by Badcop (Tkay Maidza), and mastering by Jon Lemon. Tracking was done at Chapel Lane Studios in their hometown of Adelaide.

Smart’s retro vocals are layered, echoey and ethereal, over a barrage of popcorn beats and synth.

Named after the character Nakatomi Plaza from the Die Hard movies, this enigmatic two-piece is definitely one to watch!
