In only its second year, Musica Copa has already established itself as one of Sydney’s leading charity music festivals. It’s an event which sees the decidedly polar opposite cultural traditions of music and sport come together in beautiful harmony, and this year plans to give away a generous $12, 000 to charities, including: Beyond Blue, National Youth Mental Health Foundation Headspace, Aussie dynamic Arts organisation Heaps Decent, Oz Harvest, Sea Shepherd, Special Olympics, and a slew of other great organisations. Soccer balls and sweet tunes never felt so good together, or so gratifying!
With the musicians-cum-football players already decided, the off-field entertainment is the final lineup to be announced. Adorning the stage will be ‘party collective’ Motorik, Chris Stracey of Bag Raiders, Yahtzel (DJ set), Yolanda Be Cool, Indian Summer, Akouo and Motorik Vibe Council. Should the event managers be worried that such a strong lineup might distract punters from the football? Time will tell. We’re pretty confident that musicians playing sport will be entertainment enough for most people.
Running out onto the footy pitch this year will be: Elefant Traks x Umbrella, FBi Radio, Future Classic, inthemix, Ministry Of Sound x Mustard Music, Mushroom Group, OneLove and Pulse Radio, who will be joined by Audiopaxx, Falcona, Maker (joining Sweat It Out), MTV, Red Bull Music Academy, Sony, UNDR ctrl and Universal.
Musica Copa will kick off (pun intended) on Friday 5th of December, from 3-10pm. Check out www.musicacopa.com for more information and the chance to win two tickets to hang out with the stars back stage, win festival tickets, merchandise and other cool stuff.
