This morning, singer-songwriter Matt Corby released his new song ‘Monday’, the first taste of new material from the ARIA award winning musician.

Bunkered down writing and recording in a cottage in the NSW coastal town of Berry since his last studio release, EP Resolution (2013). ‘Monday’ is the first offering from the evolving artist’s highly anticipated debut album.

Corby says: “It has been about two years since I released any music – I guess I needed to spend that time learning how to practically play, on each instrument, what i would regularly hear in my head. Enough time has now passed now for me to clear my head of everything that I’ve done before, reboot and have the balls to do it again.”

The new track is a far cry from his baby-face audition tape on Australian Idol back in 2007. Complete with chorus choir-esque harmonies, Corby’s soulful and bluesy vocals play out over a basic folk boom-clap soundscape. It’s a beautiful, purely vocal exercise.

Also announced today is a national run of dates this November which will see Corby and band hit the road for the first time since his sold out Resolution tour. Fans can expect to hear a number of new songs for the first time along with a selection of songs from his previous popular EP’s.

The new single ‘Monday’ follows on from his previous two single releases ‘Brother’ (6 x platinum, ARIA song of the year) and ‘Resolution’ (4 x platinum, ARIA song of the year).
