On Sunday June 7, three of Sydney’s most notorious club crews come together across three rooms at Carriageworks Sydney for a Modulations closing event of epic proportions.
Long-standing gay nightlife institution Kooky, techno devotees Motorik and party freaks Pelvis, will make Carriageworks their own, each bringing a lineup of local & international talent to send the weekend into a crescendo of Sydney raving.
Kooky recently celebrated their 20th anniversary, a landmark that was previously thought impossible in the party game. Their regular Sunday night has been a cornerstone of the Sydney gay scene, and their special events are the stuff of flamboyant, legend – a colourful gathering of Sydney’s finest soundtracked by some of the scene’s radicals. The good ship Kooky is steered by Gemma and Seymour Butz, and they’ll be joined by international disco don Daniel Wang, as well as guest vocalists from Ngaiire and Kira Puru.
The Motorik warehouse parties have become the stuff of sweaty legend, hosting some of the leading lights in international techno and nurturing some of our best homegrown producers, while the label has released a string of teutonic dancefloor staples. For Modulations they’ve invited Sei A, CMSNT61 & Kirin J Callinan and Mike Callandar to bring the noise, while Phil Smart & Francis Xavier, Vivi & Linda Marigliano, and Motorik Vibe Council will run the DJ booth.
Pelvis are the weekend wildcard, a fruity irregular throwdown bringing disco, house and techno together in a haze of esoteric, themed soirees complete with club interior reinvention, strobes and smoke. English producer, DJ, former label head, graphic designer and fine artist Trevor Jackson will join the Pelvis boys, bringing his 25 years of experience to the floor and a clutch of classic new wave, industrial dance, techno and house, both known and unknown. Also doing it differently in the Pelvis room will be Sweden via Hong Kong producer, DJ and Born Free label head Samo DJ, alongside the reliably loose Pelvis residents.
Three crews, three rooms, one party, one love!
