Having established itself as a local icon of film, music, events and culture, The Shadow Electric is located in Melbourne’s Abbotsford Convent, and has ran over 300 events since it’s inception in 2012. Previously only running a Summer program, Jay Rayner and David Chestwig have today announced the Band Room has become a permanent fixture in the Melbourne music scene and is now available for events 4 nights a week.
With backgrounds in events and music, and the aspiration to start an outdoor cinema in a unique location, Jay Rayner and David Chestwig launched The Shadow Electric in partnership with The Abbotsford Convent Foundation. Since, the venue has evolved into a live performance and theatre space, playing host to the likes of local stalwarts Courtney Barnett and The Courtney Barnetts, Lost Animal, Worlds End Press, Tex Perkins, as well as international acts such as Mac DeMarco, Kurt Vile, Prins Thomas and many others.
The Shadow Electric Open Air Cinema program will continue to run in the warmer months and will be screening 5 nights a week, plus live shows and matinees.
