A number of Melbourne’s premier female soul singers have joined forced to release ‘Woman Got Soul’; the first single from a forthcoming compilation to be released in April.
The group, who released their first single in the run up to International Women’s Day on March 8th, consists of a range of vocalists of both solo and collective acclaim. Kylie Auldist, Stella Angelico, Chelsea Wilson, Rita Satch, Candice Monique, Christina Perfection of The Perfections, Lisa Faithfull of Soul Safari, May Johnston of Deep Street Soul, Carla Troiano, Jennifer Kingwell and Shae Mourtzakis are all within the performance series, and will all contribute to the album Women Of Soul which is set to be released next month.
All proceeds from the album will go to the Domestic Violence Resource Center Victoria. The DVRCV is a not-for-profit organisation that protects people who experience family violence or live with a disability, and aids practitioners and service workers involved with helping survivors of violence to recover.
