Appropriately named the Queen of Hip Hop Soul, Mary J. Blige has stretched her talents from singing and songwriting to acting and philanthropy, earning her 32 Grammy nominations and nine wins. Bursting onto the scene with her debut What’s The 411? in 1992, Blige skyrocketed to #1 on the Billboard R&B/Hip-Hop Album Chart and changed our lives forever with hits like You Remind Me and Real Love. Not stopping there, Blige went on the nab more #1 spots with 2005’s The Breakthrough and 2014’s The London Sessions.

Bluesfest had its first festival in 1990 and is still going strong as Australia’s premier Contemporary Blues & Roots music festival. Continuing to attract huge acts today, 2017’s lineup is packed with Blige being joined by the likes of Barry Gibb, Neil YoungPatti Smith, Billy Bragg, The Lumineers, and so much more.

Blige is set to play Bluesfest on Friday the 14th of April, so for those of us from Melbourne and Sydney who aren’t able to make it, we’re in for a treat. Blige is gearing up to play in two iconic Aussie venues – Sydney’s Opera House and Melbourne’s Hamer Hall. These all age venues are sure to make her upcoming shows a family affair.
