New and upcoming singer, songwriter and pianist Lydia Goldthorpe will officially launch her exquisite debut EP Simple Local next month.

Having lived in London for the last few years, Lydia returned home to Melbourne to record her debut EP with singer songwriter and producer Hayden Calnin.

Simple Local is steeped in 90’s English grunge, and showcases hypnotic vocals draped over minimalist piano, cinematic strings set amongst gutsy rhythms and beats. Accompanied by a violinist, capturing the cinematic components of the EP recordings and enhancing the stories her songs tell, the two piece set up is a vulnerable yet full bodied sound, bringing previous audiences to tears.

Invited to perform her ‘Secret Sculptures Go’ single on ABC 774 in May (watch below), Lydia also brought the house down with her emotionally charged voice in her debut live performance last month at Howler.

Set in the atmospheric Longplay Cinema, the upcoming July 15th show will offer a unique evening of highlights including a very special secret guest performance to open the night.
