Spiderbait drummer KRAM, in partnership with Eponine Films and Universal Pictures Australia, has released the Original Motion Picture Soundtrack to Australian drama, Love Is Now.
The soundtrack is a collection of original works by KRAM from his ARIA award winning band, and is the drummer’s debut into the film score world. The album features the tracks chronologically as they appeared in the movie – a whopping 37 songs in total!
The film stars an erray of Australian talent including Eamon Farren (Chained, Red Dog, Carlotta), Claire Van Der Boom (The Square, Red Hill, ‘Hawaii Five-0’) and Anna Torv (The Secret Life of Us, Fringe). Love is Now is the intriguing yet mysterious drama chronicling a summer of love for experienced photographer Audrey (Van Der Boom) and aspiring snapper Dean (Farren).
Kram reflects on how he was approached to work on the score, “Jim Lounsbury (director) & Behren Shultz (producer) were filming a documentary of Spiderbaits last album.. They asked if I would be interested in doing the soundtrack… Jim was a big fan of my album Mix Tape and I’d always wanted to compose music/songs for film so I was up for it.”
Recorded in Melbourne, Sydney and Byron Bay in between a national Spiderbait tour, the transitioning between the studios helped shape the variation of the songs. “Playing all the instruments and doing all the singing on everything as well is a big part of the overall sound. I wanted to be absorbed by the whole project.”
In between touring and recording, Kram has also been busy in the studio with sister sibling Aussie rock band, Stonefield, producing their much anticipated 2nd album.
