The latest single from Brisbane/Melbourne duo HOLY HOLY, unveils a darker, more atmospheric side to the band’s sound.
‘You Cannot Call For Love Like A Dog‘ boasts sharp glassy guitar breaks, soaring vocal harmonies and a driving bass. Recorded on a 2-inch tape with producer and keys player Matt Redlich, the single is a polished taste of what is to come from the band’s highly anticipated debut album.
The duo, comprising of songwriter Timothy Carroll and composer and guitarist Oscar Dawson, had a big yearin 2014. They were joined by permanent drummer Ryan Strathie (Hungry Kids Of Hungary, Andy Bull) and touring bassist Graham Ritchie (Airling, Emma Louise) on the road, and Redlich – who has recorded and produced all of HOLY HOLY’s recorded work to date – was also added to the permanent band line-up.
After completing two sold-out national headline tours and supporting some of Australia’s most loved acts, including Ball Park Music, Boy & Bear (a definite vocal influence on the new single) and The Preatures. The band then hit the road non-stop in the later part of the year, and clocked up over 60 shows in just six-months!
Last year also saw HOLY HOLY release a further two singles to critical acclaim nationally. ‘House of Cards’ was put out as part of The Pacific EP and ‘History’ was released as the first single from the band’s upcoming debut album, due for release mid-2015.
HOLY HOLY are also embarking on a mega tour of the UK in May from The Great Escape to the Dot to Dot Festival.
