August has begun, and as the sun begins to shine a little brighter in the colder parts of the country, we have found some nice activities to make the most of the latter parts of winter, and the approaching spring. Melbourne has music, markets and art exhibitions to keep you busy. Canberra has a bright and beautiful festival showcasing one million flowers in bloom. Alongside that is Nightfest, which takes over Commonwealth Park with comedy, music, food, market stalls and live entertainment. The galleries are hosting some superb exhibitions and Fireside Festival gives warmth to the wintery chill. Further up in Sydney you will find some great indie acts hitting the stage during the week. Whether it be punk or pop; experimental or dance, you will be sure to stumble upon some quality music to enjoy for free. Brisbane will be ready to laugh off the working week with Knockoff Comedy Fridays. Authors will be about, chatting ideas and literature, and a vibrant farmers market will stretch out across the great outdoors at the Powerhouse on Sunday. Adelaide will host a variety of musical performances, and Perth DJs, bands and more!
