Curly haired singer-songwriter Fraser A Gorman has released a quirky music clip for his new single ‘Shiny Gun‘.
The gloriously sun-baked, folk-infused number is taken from Gorman’s forthcoming debut LP Slow Gum, and proves why he is one of Melbourne’s best and brightest new talents.
Both musically and visually, the video boasts some killer cameos, featuring fellow Milk! Records musician and world-dominator Courtney Barnett, The Gin Club’s Angus Agars, and bandmate Davey Lane.
Directed by Sunny Leunig, the quirky clip follows the final reports of sacked newsreaders at the fictional Channel 5 News – in the same vein as American comedy hit movie Anchorman. Rather delightfully, it also includes a cheesy 70s news introduction and transitions between colour and black & white throughout. And of course, as is the running theme with Gorman clips, there is a chicken involved.
With roots in country, rock n’ roll and folk, Gorman’s latest effort weaves oddball-wit with romanticism and a striking Fender riff.
