Returning for another year, Melbourne Music Week’s Industry based conference has announced its keynote speaker for the 2014 event.

World renowned music legend Steve Albini has been announced as the first international keynote speaker for Face The Music, which will be held over two days at Arts Centre Melbourne on November 14th and 15th.

As well as engineering some of the worlds most iconic releases from acts such as Nirvana, the PixiesPJ Harvey and The Stooges, Albini also acts as an ambassador for artists thriving to release their work outside of the corporate music industry structure.

His list of roles within the music industry include musician, music journalist, industry commentator and recording engineer, to name a few. On top of this, Albini’s current band Shellac has recently celebrated 20 years and has recorded 5 studio albums, with a new album Dude Incredible to be released on September 16, 2014.

The 2014 inception of Face The Music will also feature a plethora of knowledgable industry seminars and discussions led by some of the countries leading names.

Also announced to speak at this year’s Face The Music are Dave Batty (Custom Made / Artist Voice), Johann Ponniah (I OH YOU), Briese Abbott (Spark & Opus), Ben Thompson (Corner Presents), James Young (Cherry Bar, Yah Yahs), Antonia Sellbach(Love of Diagrams, Beaches), Harley Evans (Moshtix), Millie Millgate and Glenn Dickie(Sounds Australia), Chris Hatzis (3RRR), Cara Williams (Beat), Chris Johnson(AMRAP/CBAA), Emma Telfer (The Office Of Good Design), Sophia Brous (Artist / Curator), Caleb Williams (Unified), Kirsty Rivers (APRA AMCOS), Yvette Myhill (AAM),Patrick Donovan (Music Victoria) and Leigh Treweek ( with 100 more speakers to be announced.
