Blue Mountains native Drew McAlister has just released his new single and video for ‘Kissing a Girl Goodnight’. The 4 x Golden Guitar winner, ARIA Award nominee, and CMC Oz Artist Award winner takes us behind the track and explains to us how he came about the song, what it means to him, and why it’s so important:

‘Kissing A Girl Goodnight’ came about through my producer Andy Mak.  I usually write most of the album but always get a couple of outside tracks to mix things up a bit.  When he sent the song through I texted him and said “are you sure no one’s recorded this song”. He confirmed with me that no – it was just sitting in Nashville alongside thousands of other songs that never get recorded.  This song is essentially about my life and the stages we all go through from teenage to love parenthood.  We recorded it at the Grove Studios on the Central Coast, a fantastic studio set on 25 acres.  In the video, this time round my two girls got to be in the clip. It seemed fitting and they loved the process.

It seems like releasing a new song isn’t the only thing on McAlisters’ schedule. He and Mick Kearney (owner of K Ranch) have a new country festival coming up called the Mount Hunter Country Music Stampede.

It is designed to showcase established country music artists and the rising stars from throughout Australia, with the line up including performances from Christie Lamb, Jasmine Rae, Adam Brand, Adam Harvey, Drew McAlister and the 2017 Maton Rising Star winner Teleisha Eade. For further information check here.

The music festival will be held 12th – 14th October at K Ranch – Mount Hunter.
