Sydney’s The Ruminaters are on the verge of dropping their sophomore album, Welcome To Flight S.U.N 91, a 14-track delight recorded at London’s RAK Studios. The new record demonstrates a band whose creative energy has exploded, as they explore new sounds and ideas with confidence.

Each song on the album represents a different passenger on a flight back to 1991. With the sun as a time machine, The Ruminaters ponder on the concept of going back in time.

To celebrate the new release, we had The Ruminaters take us behind the album, letting us know how it came to be.

“We approached the writing of this album in a completely different way to how we have in the past. We definitely wanted to make it stand out more than anything we’ve ever done. We spent hours in our home studio individually crafting different parts for different songs before we headed to London. They are all Frankenstein pieces. I think choosing to record at such a high end, iconic studio triggered us to push the songs to a new level creatively. And Rob, our producer, pretty much acted like a 5th member in the sense that he was completely on the same page as us in regards to what we wanted to achieve. He brought a lot of life to the record. It was a very different experience to recording in living rooms and farm sheds, and I think people will easily notice the step up in production and writing we’ve taken”.
