Melbourne’s very own Rojdar has recently dropped his latest single ‘Freakin Wasted’, an ode to, well, getting freakin wasted. We had Rojdar answer a few questions about how the track came to be.

How does the single making process begin for you?

I usually start laying down some chords & keep trying until I make something I vibe that is catchy. I then send it to my manager to get his opinion & he usually replies “Nice but keep trying”, which is defs code for “Your music is shit and I don’t know why I’m wasting my time with you”.

Do you write the music or the lyrics first?

This one is tough, sometime times you’ll send your instrumentals to writers and go back and forth. Or, you’ll get sent a top line and you can go from there. The second part is easier because you know exactly what you’re writing to.

What time of day do you prefer to write music? When are you most creative?

Night time! There is way less temptations and almost everyone is sleeping so I don’t have people trying to hang out or talk to while I write them bangers. Then again, who am I kidding tho……no one hangs out with me regardless of what time of day it is.

What challenges did you face while making the single?

There were a few, there was always the pressure that I had to follow up a previous record that was one of the highest played aussie records on commercial radio over summer. Another one was the time zone difference with the vocalist Jake who lives on the other side of the world.

Who was the first person you played the single to?

Physically, it would have been my friend Cara whom is a big support channel with me and my music. In saying that, I did send the record to a bunch of producers on the internet to get an ego boost. Can never get enough compliments lol

Describe the single in three words.

Cheesy but Good!
