AWME is excited to announce that another 19 artists will be joining this year’s performance program! First up, AWME welcomes extraordinary songwriter and an exceptional guitarist Frank Yamma, fresh from a string of festivals in Canada and with a new album scheduled for release later this year, the Melbourne Ska Orchestra, who recently returned from a blistering tour of the UK and Canada performing in front of thousands, including shows at Glastonbury and the prestigious Montreal Jazz Festival (pictured above). Soulful and compelling storyteller Glenn Skuthorpe will perform for the very first time, as will South African born Bongeziwe Mabandla who will be making is maiden voyage to Australia bringing his Afro soul/folk, blues rockers BONJAH will showcase their explosive live show, Bustamento will pay homage to upbeat rhythms of the Caribbean and coming down from Brisbane will be the soulful Black Indie.
Coming all the way from Europe are Scotland’s Finding Albert, Italian act Santa Taranta (Italy/Aust) and from a little closer to our shores and representing New Zealand is Louis Baker, and Tha Feelstyle.
From the depths of NSW, Radical Son, the man with a purpose won’t, disappoint with his potent and sublime mix of soul and hip hop; and originally from Darwin, but now a Sydneysider, Leah Flanagan is bound to delight with her stunning instinctual connection to music. Coming from the South of Australia is folk act Timberwolf. Rounding off the announcement Victoria’s finest will also be showcasing including up and coming soul singer Hailey Cramer; “the impossible love child of Elvis, Roy Orbison and Townes Van Zandt” Marlon Williams; singer/songwriter hailing from regional Victoria Benny Walker, Mighty Duke & The Lords will shake it with their Calypso inspired tales of love and The Ska Vendors will bring the ska-reggae grooves.
