Grammy Award-winning band Arcade Fire will release their first feature film, The Reflektor Tapes, in October.

Directed by 2013 Sundance Grand Jury Prize for Short Films winner Kahlil Joseph, and produced by award-winning studio Pulse Films (20,000 Days on Earth, Shut Up And Play The Hits) and What Matters Most, The Reflektor Tapes will be a film quite like any other.

It’s set to be an authentic cinematic experience for fans of the band and film, meeting somewhere at the elecetic crossroads of documentary, music, art and personal history. The Reflektor Tapes is a fascinating insight into the making of Arcade Fire’s critically acclaimed, international #1 album Reflektor, transporting the viewer into a kaleidoscopic sonic and visual landscape.

It charts the band’s creative journey as they lay the foundations for the album, commence recording sessions in their hometown of Montreal, and play an impromptu gig at a Haitian hotel on the first night of Carnival.

Audiences will relive stunning concerts from the Reflektor tour, re-envisioned in true cinema high definition and surround sound. Arcade Fire said of the film: “There were parts of the Reflektor tour where I think we, Arcade Fire, came the closest in our careers to putting on stage what we imagined in our heads. We were insanely lucky to have Kahlil Joseph documenting from the very beginning.”

The Reflektor Tapes will also give viewers a chance to hear an unreleased track for the first time and features an exclusive 20 minutes of unseen footage – filmed only for cinema audiences. And to accompany the film announcement, Arcade Fire have also released an exclusive new music video for the track ‘Porno‘, created by Kahlil Joseph and featuring footage from the film.

The 45 min teaser trailer – which dropped yesterday – is a narrated musing on the importance of music to the band, part talking head and part live performance.

The documentary will be released worldwide but with a limited run, with dates and locations yet to be announced. Keep up to date on the band’s Facebook page.

The Reflecktor Tapes will premiere nationally on the 1st Ocotber 2015
